Below is a small sampling of terms that those outside the industry may hear or read about on a regular basis. Within the industry, there are dozens more.

domainer: A company or individual who registers multiple domain names, either for investment or to control keywords in various markets in which the business operates. Also called a bulk registrant or domain name investor.

type-in traffic: Traffic obtained from an Internet user who types an address directly into a browser address bar

targeted traffic: Qualified, potent traffic that converts at a higher percentage than other traffic

PPC advertising: Pay Per Click advertising in which an advertiser is billed, and a publisher is paid, only for click-throughs to ads
